I finally got all the parts for my new rig on Friday and set about building it when I got home from work around 5pm. What a bloody nightmare it turned out to be! Over 7 hours & 10 beers later I was still working on it. The computer wouldn’t boot into bios, no video signal to speak of, in the end I gave it up as a bad job and decided to go to bed…I wasn’t in a fit state to be playing around with it by that late stage.
Saturday morning feeling rather hung over and pissed off I decided to give it another go, I was determined to get this computer up and running. I started by trying the sticks of RAM one by one and eventually got it booted up with one stick in the first of 4 available DIMM sockets, thank god!
Turns out that one of the sticks of RAM was faulty and now I have to send them both back and wait for replacements, hopefully they will be here in the next 2-3 days. I few years ago I would build PCs for friends & family, and for some extra cash but now I remember why I gave it up…it’s just not worth the hassle.

I finally shelled out for a new system this month which was long over due. My old rig was a AMD 1400 XP with an Asus V8200 video card and 512mb ram. That system is over 6 years old and has stood the test of time, I haven’t had one problem with it in that time. Kinda sad to see it go.
The new system;
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
DFI Lanparty UT NF680i LT
2x 1GB Corsair
EVGA nVidia GeForce 8800GT Superclocked 512MB
Seagate Barracuda 320GB
Antec Sonata III Mini Tower Case
Samsung 22inch LCD Monitor
This system should be well equipped to play the latest games, now all I have to do is put it together…

An inquiry has been launched by Liverpool Football Club after a top player’s payslip, detailing a £139,634 monthly wage - was put on the internet.
At first glance I thought this must be a fake but I guess Liverpool FC wouldn’t be launching an inquiry if this was fake. Look at the insane tax he is paying, £55,508.28 for one month, that’s more than I would pay in a year! And I thought I had it bad…
I don’t know why the newspapers in the UK are making such a big deal out of this, if you ask anyone in the UK about player wages they will tell you they are over-paid.
